Candidate Recomendations for Aug. 3rd Primary

Event Date: Wednesday, July 28, 2010 through Tuesday, August 3, 2010

Event Location: Salina TEA Party

A lot of people have been asking me who to vote for or what candidates does the TEA Party recommend. I have been watching candidates for a long time, looking at voting records, and talking with most of them personally. Here are my personal recommendations.

In the Republican primary, Todd Tiahrt for US Senator, David Powell for Insurance commissioner, Ralph De Zago for Attorney General, Kris Kobach for Secretary of State, Tim Huelskamp for 1st district Congress, Ronald Young for 71st district State Rep, Tom Arpke for 69th district State Rep.

Each one of us has our own criteria and beliefs, we are individuals and we are very fortunate to still live in a free country where we can and should exercise our privilege and our responsibility to be involved and vote.

At the bottom of the ballot is Precinct Offices. These are the people that work within the Republican Party to vote on party policy, vote on people to send to the national convention to set party platforms and even vote on replacements for the State Representative and State Senator positions should elected person be unable to complete their term in office.

This happened most recently in the Republican Party when Carrol Beggs died of cancer and the Republican precinct people voted to replace him with Charlie Roth in the 71st district. See what I mean? These vacant positions do not go back to the people for a vote, they are filled by local precinct people.

Another example on the Democrat side is when Josh Svaty was appointed to Kansas Secretary of Agriculture, his unexpired term was given to his father, Don Svaty, by the precinct people of the Democratic party in his district.

You see, this is an often overlooked position, but very important. If there is an important race in your precinct, you will be getting a bright colored card in the mail with the name(s) of a precinct committee man and/or a precinct committee woman. Take these to the polls with you, they will be your guide.

If you would like to view a sample ballot, you can get one from the county clerk. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Time to walk!

Event Date: Saturday, July 31, 2010 through Saturday, July 31, 2010

Event Location: 801 East Cloud

Over the last few months we have heard about many TEA Party victories around the country. This is very exciting! However, these victories did not "just happen", many people came together to work for a common goal. This means they walked door to door, made phone calls and whatever else the candidates needed. Please consider coming to Salina Heights Christian Church at 801 East Cloud at 8:30 Saturday morning and getting a list of addresses that need to hear about our candidates, we have the fliers, we have the maps, we just need your shoes!

We will meet back at Salina Heights at noon for lunch(provided).
